A New Distance

On Saturday, I ran my first 10K race.  I had myself so nervous, it reminded me about how I'd have a belly ache all weekend at swim meets when I competed year round when I was younger.  I think if my friend, Chris, hadn't signed up with me, I might have considered backing out!

My IT band has slowly gotten better, but due to crazy weather here (and the fact that we don't own a treadmill), I wasn't able to train nearly as much as I would have liked.  Because of this, my endurance wasn't where I'd hoped it would be and I slowed down quite a bit after the first 3 miles.  I ran the entire thing though and now I can't wait to do it again!

I was super excited there were finishers medals!  Haha!  That's always fun because finishers medals are the only medals I'll ever get to take home.

At one of Konny's PT appts, I asked about buying a Heartspring shirt to wear for the run and they just gave me one.  Then I used my ebates money to get some cute matching shorts.  My fingernails were painted to match, of course.  I know it's crazy, but it helps calm my nerves!

I was so excited to cross the finish line and see my friend, Stephanie, from church waiting there for me.  Talk about an amazing friend!  She is such a blessing to me!

The race was early enough that E and the kiddies were still in their jammies when I got home!

Kelton and I are looking for another race to run sometime this summer.  He really enjoys running also, but my favorite part is the special time with him.
