I was getting entirely sick of looking at my stained carpets. It's probably been about a year since I shampooed them and they were looking worse than ever, especially around the kitchen table. With our plans for laminate flooring are on hold due to unexpected truck repairs, I knew I needed to tackle the spots or they would drive me crazy!
I didn't want to shampoo because of the time it takes, moving furniture, waiting for the carpet to dry, keeping the kids off it, etc. I knew surely I must have pinned some cleaners that would work on my green clean pin board. There were actually a couple different ones, so I mixed my own based on that.
I used 1 part blue Dawn, 1 part vinegar and 2 parts peroxide.
I felt pretty skeptical, but I sprayed my spots and then used some elbow grease.
The pictures will speak for themselves! There's a difference in exposure because it was still sunny when I took the befores, then the flash is used with the afters. It doesn't change that the stains are gone though!
I am thrilled!
*Make sure to do a spot test first to be sure this will not leave lightened spots on your carpet, especially if your carpet is darker. I had no issues, but there's no guarantee everyone will have the same results*

A little DIY and some elbow grease definitely went a long way for you and your carpet, Theresa! The homemade solution is an inexpensive alternative, but apart from having to be careful about dark-colored carpets, I think a disclaimer should also be put for those who own oriental rugs and more delicate carpets.
