Strawberry picking plus a cute little toad

My race was plenty early enough in the morning that we planned to pick strawberries as soon as I got home.  Well, maybe not right when I got home because everyone was still in their jammies!  Thankfully it was a beautiful day, so we got dressed and headed to Sargeant's Berry Farm.

We didn't get strawberry picking in last year, so this was Konny's first time to pick.  He wasn't walking yet when we went 2 yrs ago.  With our cooler weather we've had, the strawberries took longer to ripen.  Usually by June, they've moved onto peaches.

Katie and Konnor had their fill of picking strawberries pretty quickly, then completely lost interest when they saw a little toad.  Katie was hopping around after when suddenly...she pounced and stood up victorious!  She'd caught it!  We were a tad shocked considering her diva-ish personality.

Once the frog was gone, Konnor was happy to find a stick.  Kelton continued picking though and filled his bucket!

We left with 20lbs of strawberries, which was more than enough to keep me busy for the entire evening!

As always, the only proper thing to eat for dinner after strawberry picking is strawberry shortcake!  Now that we have the ice cream maker, we had homemade allergy friendly ice cream to go with it!

I made enough freezer jam to last us until next year and we have a bunch of strawberries in the freezer too for baking and smoothies!

The farm wasn't sure if they'd have peaches this year, so I'm going to call in a month and check.  They are far more work and far messier than strawberries, so we definitely wouldn't want as many!
