Old Settlers Days 2013

The weekend of Mulvane's Old Settlers Days is always busy and this year was no exception!  We started out Friday morning with the turtle races.  Our turtle was small but scrappy!  We couldn't pick him up without almost getting bit!  He proved to be a winner and got 2nd place in his heat!

That evening, Katie had the Little Miss Pioneer Crowning Ceremony.  Seeing that we're not originally from Mulvane and her box wasn't in a business visited very often, we knew she wouldn't win, but it was still a fun experience and she loved wearing a pretty dress on stage!

After the ceremony, of course, we had to ride rides!

After plenty of riding, we took K2 and K3 home for bedtime and my mom stayed with them so E and I could take Kelton back down to ride some big kid rides, play some games and eat some junk food!

Bright and early the next morning was the road race.  I had planned to run the 4 mile, but was worried about finishing and then getting everyone ready and to their floats on time for the parade, so we all just did the 1 mile.  It's so fun doing these as a family!

Poor Konny got cut out of the first picture!  Apparently running the mile is the way to go!  Not a lot of adults run it, so I placed first and Eric got second in each of our age groups!  Haha!  Katie got second also.  Kelton ran the entire way but struggled because he lung function has been down.

After the run we hurried home, had some breakfast and got ready for the parade!  Katie rode on the Little Miss Pioneer Float and Kelton walked with the Boy Scouts.  Konnor collected candy like it was his job!  Thankfully it wasn't too warm, only about 80!

After the parade, we went home for lunch, had some quick naps and then it was time for Katie's dance performance.  I snapped a lot of pics, but really wished I would have videoed it.  The girls were all so cute and Katie was quite the ham!

It's always fun, but long and tiring too!  Even after dinner that night, I canned a bunch of cinnamon pickles and then ran 8 miles.  Got to squeeze as much in on the weekends as possible!
