Crockpot Day 15 and Memorial Weekend

On Saturday we took a little trip into Wichita. We had lunch at Taco Bell and dessert at Marble Slab. Mmmmm! Konnor has taken to screaming in the car but is perfectly happy once we stop and get out. Isn't that like opposite of what they're supposed to do?

The best picture I could get. Katie was thrilled to go to Tacy Bell.

That evening, Eric was going to the neighbors to watch a UFC fight, so I made some dip in the crock. I do love beans, so I came up with this...

2 bags of my homemade refried beans
large jar of medium salsa
about 1/2 bag of black beans, sorted and soaked overnight
1/2 brick of velveeta

I threw it all in and cooked on low all afternoon until the beans were tender. I did boil the black beans awhile before hand because I was worried about them getting soft enough since I got started later than planned. All of this completely filled my 4qt crock. I transferred some over to a 1.5qt crock to send for the fight. There were definitely no complaints.

Konnor donned another outfit this weekend that was previously Kelton's. I seriously can't believe how similiar they look.

Everyone always used to tell us that since Katie was such a hard baby, she'd be a super easy toddler. Well, they were liars. :-) She is loads of fun though. Right now she's really into wearing her boots everyday. She's loving her hats too!

Memorial Day was the first big pond party of the year
and it was loads of fun!

Pete and Eric made sure there was plenty of meat.

Of course the crockpot was used. I wasn't thrilled to see duck tape on it, but E was a good hubby and cleaned it all off.

It was Konnor's pond party debut.

Kelton spent most of his time in the pool. Our goal for this summer is for him learn to swim and ride his bike without training wheels. It's way past time for these things to happen!

Obviously my crockpotting has lost some of it's allure since I'm not using it nearly everyday anymore. I'll just keep at it and keep counting the days. We'll see how many I get in by the end of the summer. I have something in it right now!!

Lastly, I finally won a giveaway!! I enter them here and there but have never won anything. Happy Mom of 5 is a fellow Kansan who loves a good bargain and has lots of giveaways on her numerous blogs. I found her when I was searching Dillon's coupon match-ups for Kansas. I won her fill a box giveaway and it sure is full! There is tons of awesome stuff in here, a couple of my favs being the Celtic Woman CD and the awesome water bottle.
