What happened to the 4th of July?

With my family reunion falling just before the 4th of July this year, we didn't get in nearly as much fire work time as we're used to.  It came and went without any red, white and blue outfit pics, no red white and blue themed treats either.  We were just too busy this year!  We did manage to squeeze in a few fireworks though.  It's probably Eric and Kelton's favorite holiday and it's clear they're passing their love of fireworks on to Katie and Konnor too!

Dolan Family Reunion

The last time I was able to attend a Dolan Family Reunion was when Kelton was Konnor's age!  It was in Kentucky and when we returned home, I found out I was pregnant with Katie the next day!

This year it was in Oklahoma and I was so glad I was able to work it out to attend.  Unfortunately, because we were going on vacation with Eric's family the next week, he wasn't able to get the time off to go with us.  With it only being 4 hrs away plus my new sweet minivan, I figured I could handle things on my own!

We had the traditional white elephant gift exchange, the kids got several rounds of Bingo in, I got to go on a couple (extremely hilly) runs with my cousins and Kelton went out tubing in the lake.

When it was time to head home, we drug our feet as long as possible, but it still felt too soon.  All three kids were in tears and I wanted to cry too, but my heart was happy to see them making some of the same great memories that I have.  Six years is too long and we left with promises not to go that long again.

I didn't get many pictures, but this one is great!  We had a count down of kids from age 10 all the way down to 2.  They all played really well together and we had such a great time.  I can't help but wonder what my Nana would think of this bunch.  I also wonder if enough time will ever go by that I don't get a lump in my throat and watery eyes when I think of her.  I miss her so much.

4 Generations for Father's Day

With fun vacations and our busy summer, I've managed to get myself a little behind on my blogging.  Time to play catch up, starting with Father's Day.

The Saturday before, Eric, his parents and the boys went out to Papa Guy's place for a visit and some tractor riding!  Katie and I stayed home for her dance class and some girl time.  Next time I'll have to be sure to remind Eric to take a picture of all of them together.  Four generations of Papon boys is pretty cool!

On Sunday, Eric and Kelton went to Shady Creek for some fun while K2, K3 and I were at church.

After dinner that night (and homemade ice cream, of course!), we gave E his gifts including the kid's framed handprints.  We made a similar one for Papa Bruce and I'm bummed I didn't get his picture with it and the kids.

Because Father's Day weekend was busy, we waited until the next weekend to serve Daddy breakfast in bed.  Katie was all business and wanted to do most of it herself.

She did make sure to save some bacon for herself (smart girl!)
